About Lamia

Between vocal virtuosity and dramatic depth, Lamia Beuque carves a unique path in the lyrical landscape.

Trained at the Lausanne School of Music, she quickly distinguished herself through her stage presence and vocal versatility.

After promising beginnings at the Rhine Opera Studio, she conquered major European stages in emblematic repertoire roles: a radiant Angelina (La Cenerentola) from Tenerife to Bari, a captivating Isabella (L'Italiana in Algeri) acclaimed in Innsbruck, and a sparkling Isolier (Le Comte Ory)  at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

Her rich and expressive voice particularly shines in major bel canto roles, notably Adalgisa (Norma) and Maffio Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia), as well as in rarer creations such as Kristina (Die Passagierin by Weinberg). She collaborates with renowned conductors such as Renato Palumbo and Diego Fasolis, and visionary directors like Damiano Michieletto and Olivier Py.

Passionate about the art of recital, she expertly explores the repertoire of art song alongside pianist Laurent Martin. Their recording of Pauline Viardot's Russian melodies (Ligia, 2021) demonstrates this special sensitivity. The 2024-2025 season promises to be particularly exciting with her first Carmen in Hagen, Marguerite in Auber's Manon Lescaut in Turin, and Mercedes (Carmen) in Nice and Antibes.

"Mezzo-soprano Lamia Beuque is the true surprise of the evening, not only for her stage presence which reaches its peak in the famous triangle scene, but for a voice that darkens and brightens seamlessly, reaching the soprano register with incredible ease."
